We are entering a contest called ‘Get it on the shelf’ sponsored by Walmart. YES… WALMART!!! How it works is this. Walmart is looking for products from American small businesses. Any type of product that Walmart currently sells is eligible. The business makes a video and posts it on Youtube.  The video is then linked through the contest website. (Our Contest Video Page: http://www.getontheshelf.com/product/3819/Gourmet-Spices-and-Sauce ) Starting on March 7 2012 and going for a period of four (4) weeks, America goes to the website and votes for their favorite product/video. Results are then tallied and the top ten (10) then go into a two (2) week runoff. The top three (3) will be put on Walmart shelves across the country.

We need you!Not just that but everyone you know! (Family, neighbors, coworkers, email contacts, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.) Not just that but we need you to convince everyone you know to contact everyone they know… There! That’s what we are asking of you. Use your influence to convince everyone you know to ‘Like’ our fan page then vote for us… then also convince them to use their influence to get everyone they know to ‘Like’ our fan page then vote for us also.

Here’s the kicker… You can vote multiple times! Completely legal to vote again and again. Get to work, vote a couple of times to start the day, a couple of votes before and/or after lunch and then one or two to end the day. You must watch the video before each vote and the video is 2 1/2 minutes long. You can even ask your coworkers to watch and vote every morning. Make a thing of it. Who in the office can vote the most times in a single day/week! All kinds of possibilities!

‘Liking’ our fan page is a vital key.Becoming a fan is vital because that allows us to notify everyone of the status of the contest. We want to take the two weeks before the voting starts to get everybody ready. Seeing the fan count grow is the easiest way to determine how many people we are reaching and are ready to help us get this done. Also they will be able to keep up with us on the latest news even after the contest.

OUR FIRST AD! The Lincoln County Fair is in August. We are putting this ad in the fair magazine. It is going to be a 1/2 page ad. Since it’s for the county fair, not really concerned with getting much of a return in sales but can measure website traffic and fan page collection. Part of our marketing plan is my concept of a fusion of ‘Word of Mouth’ & ‘Seperation Factor of Six’.

POW! That is awesome! One of the largest Spicy Foods and Barbecue shows and competitions in the country (1 of 2). We only entered the logo competition because our product release is not til late March. I have always thought our logo is fantastic.

• First – A large smile and try to hold back a laugh.
• Second – Shaking their head a little as if thinking back.
• Third – They say, “Yeah that is what everyone thinks.” (EXACT WORDS!)
• Fourth – They say something about by about the end of the second year in the effort, most decide that it is just not going to happen (for whatever reason) and give up.

Kind of made me feel good that I’ve made it this far.

Booth Layout – Go Big or Go Home! Uniform dress, sinage, additional lighting, product display, staff seating & refreshment. Going the budget route could actually do more harm than good. All materials are storeable and resuseable so form an overall plan and get one piece at a time… over time.

Documentation – Business cards, pricing sheets, package & show deals, product information packages.

Staffing – LONG DAYS! Personality and knowledge create the attitude. Attitude is everything!

Preperation – All staff need to know the talking points! Scheduling and complete communication and flow of information is essencial.
